The official Twitter handle of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) is still active despite its own announcement to broadcasters that it would enforce the Federal government’s ban on Twitter operations in Nigeria.
As of 2:30 p.m on Monday, FIJ observed that the NBC account, which has over 24,000 followers, is yet to be disabled although the regulatory body itself instructed all Nigerian broadcasting stations to “de-install their Twitter handles”.

The broadcasting regulator stressed that any station that fails to comply will be regarded as unpatriotic.
FIJ recently observed that most Nigerian ministries and the government’s top officials are also yet to act in accordance with the federal order.
Ironically, the Twitter account of Nigeria’s Ministry of Information and Culture, where the Twitter ban was first announced on Friday, is also still active.
