26.02.2023 news OBSERVED: Only 15% of South-South Results Are On INEC’s Results Portal

More than 24 hours since Nigeria’s general election commenced, only 15% of the results from polling units in the south south region have been uploaded to the INEC Results Viewing (iREV) portal.

As of 4 pm on Sunday, only 4,101 polling units from a total of 22,127, had submitted their results on the iREV portal in Edo, Rivers, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, and Akwa Ibom states combined.

On Saturday, there were several recorded instances of voters preventing INEC officials from leaving polling units. On most of the occasions, the officials wanted to leave polling units without first uploading election results on the iREV portal.

Just after 30 minutes of opening the 2023 General Election National Collation Centre in Abuja on Sunday, Mahmood Yakubu, INEC’s chairman, suspended the collation of election results till 6 pm.

This was due to states’ delay in bringing election results to the collation centre.
