Awoniyi Olayinka, a Warri-based construction manager, has accused Adelove Shipping Company, a Nigerian-owned cargo freight company based in the United States, of failing to deliver his all-in-one desktop one year after making payment.

Awoniyi told FIJ he had a relative take the product to Adelove for shipping after purchasing it for N789,260 from an online store in the United States.

“I bought an all-in-one desktop from an online store in Dallas, and a relative who stays in Dallas picked up the product the same day and took it to Adelove’s store for shipping,” he said.

“The item was something I needed to use in preparing for an exam. I needed it urgently, otherwise, I would have opted for it to be sent to Nigeria via a vessel. I expected that I would get in one week.

“I never received the item from Adelove. My brother who took the product for shipping went back to their store several times and then it became evident that I might not be getting the item as expected.

“The first time he went there in August, he saw the package right in their office but the office was closed for the day. He kept going back, but they were closed every single time.

“I decided to keep my cool, hoping it was something that would pass, but then it became obvious that we were stuck in a circle.

Awoniyi said he had written to the company and made numerous calls but no response.

“I have sent them emails and even called a number on their website but nobody was picking. When someone eventually picked, the person said they were not open for operations,” he said.

“I sent a WhatsApp message to that number, which has not been responded to till date.

“If I can’t get my good, I should get a compensation that will be commensurate with the amount of the product. I am not getting my item, and neither am I getting my money.”

FIJ had reported several cases of Adelove disappointing their customers. Also, the freight and cargo company used to enjoy the endorsement of celebrities and influencers, which made a lot of people trust them, but only to be defrauded.

FIJ sent a mail to Adelove, but it had not been responded to at press time.
