The Nigeria Police Force on Saturday said it had arrested and detained one of its officers caught in a video while attempting to extort a motorist in Ekiti State over tinted glass.
On Friday, a video of a police officer threatening to confiscate a vehicle if the owner refused to part with an undisclosed amount for tinting his car without permit had surfaced on Twitter.
Reacting to the news, the Public Complaints Unit of the force said the officer conducted himself in an unprofessional manner, and would face disciplinary action.
“The officer who was seen in this viral video behaving in an unprofessional and corrupt manner, has been identified, arrested, disarmed and detained for further investigation and disciplinary action,” the police said.
