Police officers deployed to Awka North Local Government Area in Achalla are still stuck at the secretariat as they await vehicles and ‘feeding money’, FIJ can report.
As of 9:30 am, the police officers were seen chanting in readiness to move to their respective polling units but remained at the LGA secretariat because of the unavailability of vehicles to convey them.

“Over 90 percent of police officers deployed to cover Awka North are yet to be conveyed to their designated polling units,” a police officer who asked not to be named told FIJ.
“INEC didn’t plan this well at all. We should have moved now but there is no vehicle to convey us.”
“Police are here, but when they didn’t provide vehicles to move out, na me go carry my motor?” another officer asked.
The officers also complained about the nonpayment of their feeding allowance.
“Dey carry money go give one idiot; he wan go buy motor after the election, over 200 (officers), N10,000 each,” he said.
