A yet-to-be-identified policeman has gone on a shooting spree in the Watt business area of Calabar, the Cross River State capital.

On Sunday morning, sources shared on social media that they set out to the area that morning, but the policeman suddenly stepped out of a nearby police station with his cocked gun and began shooting.

They told FIJ they had to run for dear life, but the bullet hit no fewer than four people, leaving three dead and one injured. Some claimed the policeman “ran mad”.

FIJ reached out to the Cross River State Police Complaints Unit, but they could not ascertain the casualty count as of press time.
