Opeyemi, an entrepreneur in Lagos State, has narrated how Vincent Kekong, a former security guard in Surulere, took his customer’s N21 million and became unreachable since September.
Opeyemi told FIJ that a customer of his won N25 million from a bet he placed using Kekong’s SportyBet account in September. Then, Kekong cut off all forms of communication the following morning after remitting only N4 million.
Although SportyBet has no merchant store or outlet, Opeyemi used his betting account as though he were a merchant. When he could not access his account due to network issues, he would use Kekong’s betting account.

“When people win, we pay them accordingly. When my customers staked on Kekong’s account, I paid for their stakes. But on that fateful day, after my customer staked and won, Kekong only paid N4 million,” Opeyemi told FIJ.
“Kekong said he had exceeded his transfer limit for the day but would send the rest the following day. But by the break of dawn, he had fled.
“I reported it to the Onikan Police Station, which made some moves by blocking his accounts through a court order, but that is still where we are. My customer is putting pressure on me.”
FIJ called Kekong repeatedly, but his phone lines did not connect. A text message sent to him received no response. He had not responded to the follow-up text at press time.
