The controversy over the listing of Obiageli Ekwesili, a former Minister of Education, as a director of Japhet Omojuwa’s Alpha Reach Limited has taken a new turn, as he has replied a pre-lawsuit letter by with one of his own.

Ezekwesili had earlier accused Omojuwa of fraudulently including her name on the list of directors of Alpha Reach Ltd. In a letter made available on Twitter last Wednesday, the former minister said her consent was not sought before her inclusion on the company’s directors list.

Whilst denying any involvement in the affairs of the company from the onset, Ezekwesili’s  lawyers had written: “It is our brief that our client promptly contacted you but you informed her that the Alpha Reach Company Limited is your company and that she is not involved in it at all.

“Our client also requested for the incorporation documents from you and you promised to make the same available to her within a week but you never did.

“That you never informed our client of an intention to seek her consent or participation in incorporating any company whatsoever and for any purpose whatsoever.”

Responding via a three-page letter of his own, Babajide Lawal, Omojuwa’s lawyer, said his client was ready to defend himself against Ezekwesili’s allegations.

“Our client has a 10-year relationship with your client dating back to 2011
Our client had just completed the mandatory National Youth Service when he met your client, who took him under her wings and even assisted in paying part of his rent in Abuja in 2012,” the response reads in part.

“The relationship began when our client visited your client’s house in Abuja in the company of Mallam Nasir EL-Rufai, upon her request. Our client enjoyed a triangular relationship with your client and Mallam El-Rufai, whom your client used to refer to as her “brother”. Both Mallam El-Rufai and your client were listed as Directors of Alpha Reach Company Limited when it was registered in2012, with their full consent.”

“Likewise, our client recalls being seated at the suite of a respected man of God at the Transcorp Hilton in Abuja, trusting your client with some very personal and painful stories. At a point in our client’s life, your client was his most trusted person and confidant. Some people can attest to this fact, and they will, at the appropriate time and forum,” the letter continues.

“While he remains grateful for your client’s contributions to his growth and development and is sad about the recent turn of events, our client is ready to use every piece of information at his disposal to defend himself and his future against your ungodly allegations.”
