Sahabi Sufyan, a Twitter user, has narrated how Nirsal Microfinance Bank, a government-owned small-medium enterprise bank, debited N560,000 from the account of Sani Muhammed, a businessman who never borrowed any loan from the institution.

In a series of tweets on Sunday, Sufyan wrote that Sani’s account was suddenly debited by Nirsal MFB on October 6, and that the bank refused to address his complaint for over a month.

The unauthorised debit by the MFB threw the businessman into a life full of hardship, according to Sufyan.

“Habeeb never took a loan from @NirsalMFB but got debited over N560,000 from his bank accounts. He lodged complaints over a month ago and nothing has been done. His business is put to a halt and life into hardship. He shouldn’t suffer from the carelessness of the bank,” he wrote.

Sufyan further stated that the microfinance bank claimed that an unknown person had used Sani’s Bank Verification Number (BVN) to secure a loan of N7 million.

The bank has, however, refused to reveal the person’s identity.
