Tony Garnett, the British man who left the mother of his three children for Sofiia Karkadym, a Ukrainian refugee, in May has quit his job to become a full-time carer after his new partner became partially blind.
According to the UK Mirror, 29-year-old Garnett said he was quitting his job to take care of Karkadym was the right thing to do after the refugee suffered an eye infection in Germany, while fleeing war in Ukraine.
Garnett, a security expert, said the infection had damaged the refugee’s vision to the point that she now needs six months to recover after surgery in England.

He also said the pair are now battling financial difficulties following the eye surgery.
In May, Garnett made the headlines after abandoning Lorna Garnett, his partner of ten years and mother of his three children, to be with Karkadym, ten days after she was taken in as a refugee.
“People are painting her (Karkadym) as a villain who has come to the UK and stolen a British man. Nothing could be further from the truth. It was a mutual decision,” Garnett said.
“It wasn’t as if we had met each other and decided then and there to move out. I was leaving regardless, because I’d had enough of Lorna who took against Sofiia straight away. There was a lot of drama and a lot of stress when we lived with Lorna.

“I just wanted to take Sofiia (Karkadym) away and look after her. I wanted to help someone who was fleeing from Ukraine. She’s not a homewrecker.”
Garnett and his new partner have received a torrent of abusive messages, but he said they are from people who do not know the full story.
After leaving Lorna, Garnett and his new partner first went to live with his parents. They were later kicked out over the controversy surrounding their relationship.
