“My father needed me to withdraw N10,000 for him on January 24 via PoS,” he said.

“I used a Moniepoint PoS but the transaction was unsuccessful. His account was debited and the PoS agent said he didn’t get the money.”

He added that the incident repeated itself four days later, when he returned to make another withdrawal.

“Four days later, I was back to withdraw another N10,000 because the first one was unsuccessful,” he said.

“This time, I was careful to ensure there was no network glitch before I used the card.

“I was shocked when the incident repeated itself and the status of the second transaction read ‘declined.'”

The electrician said after the first failed transaction, he visited the bank with his father and they said they would initiate a reversal after 14 working days.

“We went to the bank to complain about the first transaction and Union Bank promised to initiate a refund after 14 working days, but we didn’t receive anything.

“When the second debit happened again, we returned to the bank but were not allowed entry.

“We were just told to write the transaction ID at the gate and asked to return home. We haven’t heard from them since then.

“We don’t know how else to get a refund for the two transactions from Union Bank.”
