23.09.2021 news Unknown Gunmen Kill Three Police Officers in Enugu

Gunmen have killed two police sergeants and one inspector in a violent attack at Nachi community, Oji River Local Government Area of Enugu State. 

FIJ gathered that two of the police officers were shot at while the third was hacked and his arm disjointed. Since the attack, which happened on Wednesday, one other police officer has not been seen.

When contacted, Daniel Ndukwe, the command’s public relations officer, told FIJ that “the command has commenced full-scale investigation that will lead to (the) fishing out of the assailants”.

He also promised to communicate subsequent developments.

The southeastern part of Nigeria has witnessed a number of attacks on police stations and officers in the last few months.

Owing to the heightened insecurity, governors of the five states in the region recently unveiled a joint security outfit code-named ‘Ebube Agu’ to stem the attacks.
