Eyewitnesses claim that the haulage truck crashed after it suffered brake failure.

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASEMA) said that it had initiated efforts to evacuate the shipping container from the accident scene.

This is the fourth container truck accident in four consecutive days.

FIJ obtained exclusive video footage of commuters alighting from their vehicles to trek the distance after two containers cut off traffic on one side of the road around Ojota on Tuesday.

FIJ also reported the fatal accident which killed nine commuters on Ojuelegba bridge in Surulere on Sunday. Another video surfaced on social media showing how a truck carrying a container around Dopemu, Lagos, fell while in motion on Monday.

Repeated container truck accidents undermine road safety on Lagos main roads. Commuters have highlighted reckless driving and carelessness as some of the root causes of these heavy duty crashes.
