11.10.2021 news VIDEO: Enugu Police Abandon Station After Gunmen Attacked and Destroyed Vehicles

On Sunday, officers attached to a police station in Umokpa, Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area, Enugu State, abandoned a station after it came under heavy gunfire from yet-to-be-identified gunmen in the evening of Saturday.

A video obtained from eyewitnesses shows police vehicles damaged, their windows broken and the station deserted as people gain entry.

FIJ reached out to Daniel Ekea, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Enugu State Police Command, for comments, but he said he had not been briefed on the incident.

“I am not aware of the incident; I am just hearing of it now,” he told FIJ, moments before assuring that the police would investigate the matter.

He later confirmed the incident, saying that the state Commissioner of Police visited the scene on Monday and discovered that a female police officer was missing.
