Members of the Kaduna Vigilante Service (KADVS) have been caught on tape harassing and cutting the hair of several young residents on Saturday.

On Saturday evening, a video began to circulate on Facebook showing no fewer than four KADVS members in black uniforms harassing young men on Iyaka Street, Television Garage, Kaduna South LGA.

This video then made its way to X on Sunday morning as residents complained about the high-handedness of the state government-sponsored outfit.

One X user, @_lifeofses, accused the group of “collecting people’s phones, extorting money from young boys, and even beating them for no reason”.

On the condition of anonymity, a Kaduna resident who lives close to where the video was shot told FIJ that a similar incident occurred in the Karji area of the state two weeks ago. The resident told FIJ that KADVS was not the only outfit harassing young men in Kaduna.

He said, “It’s starting to become a usual thing right now. The perpetrators are local guys with a tangible level of education.”

On Sunday, FIJ called Bala Galadima, one of the KADVS commandants. He condemned the actions captured in the clip and promised to probe it.
