A disturbing two-minute video of Stella Nwadigo, a teacher repeatedly hitting a three-year-old pupil of Christ-Mitots School, Isawo Road, Ikorodu, Lagos, for not quickly grasping her number writing instructions emerged on Wednesday.
In the video, the teacher hit the toddler (who FIJ will not name for child protection reasons) five times as she took him through his number lessons counting in the 60s.
The teacher asked the child to write 61 and 62.
“It is like this. Write,” she said and then hit him.
“Write six for me. Write. Six. Six,” she continued.
“Like this, six like this. Like this. Now your one. Six. One. Sixty-one. Write.”
She then hit him again.
“Six, it is like this. Like this.”
Another slap.
“Your two… Six. Two. Sixty-two. Write. Like this… Like this, that is six.”
The actions of the teacher violate the Nigerian Child Act which demands that every child should be treated with dignity.
“Every child is entitled to respect for the dignity of his person, and accordingly, no child shall be‐ (a) subjected to physical, mental or emotional injury, abuse, neglect or maltreatment, including sexual abuse; (b) subjected to torture, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment,” some parts of the act reads.

I pray this get to the right authorities. Parents of this pupil and the school owner(s) should ensure this teacher doesn’t go unpunished.
Meanwhile, this type of treatments is what we get since most of us have resorted to sending our children to private schools at all cost. Not minding whether teachers in these schools qualified to be teachers.
That one is a graduate doesn’t qualified one to be a teacher! I believe to large extent government schools ensure employment of qualified ‘Teachers training graduates’. I stand to be corrected.
The woman in this video definitely is not a ‘teacher’ but ‘abuser’.
Parents, check on your children whenever they’re back from school for any signs of abuse!
This kind of treatment metted on the little boy by that teacher is barbaric and inhumane. She didn’t behave like a teacher at all. She should simply be made to face the consequences.
Honestly speaking, that teacher is a bastard, how can she slap such a little boy and the weight of the force of the flap is moving the little boy, haba, that woman will never see good thing in her life, If I was there I would have slapped the woman also.
Please let the childless witch beast woman be lawfully prosecuted… I am for justices
It is obvious the woman engaged in teaching work out of frustration and the boy just happened to be a victim of her tempestuous life.
This case, captured here by chance, is frequent in most quack schools who can’t afford to pay qualified teachers and therefore engage child molesters and abusers of this type who, most times, are not supervised by their employer.
Let the parent treat the boy ear, because of this slapping ,please,But God will punish this woman
