Newly inaugurated president, Bola Tinubu, lost his balance on stage during Monday’s inauguration ceremony, and needed assistance.

Immediately after reciting the national anthem, Tinubu turned away from the podium, and took some laboured steps.

A uniformed officer grabbed him by the waist, and kept him upright, then turned him back around to return to the podium.

Tinubu then took two more laboured steps back to the podium.

While this was ongoing, a cameraman made to get pictures of the president, but a security operative threw him off the stage.

Prior to the inauguration, Tinubu’s health status had been shrouded in mystery. The president took multiple trips to France after the election.

On March 23 and May 9, he was in France for what his aides described as trips to rest after a hectic election season, but after his first return on April 24, 2023, there were more fears over his health.

The president had a peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) sticking out of his arm.

The catheter is a device used to administer medication to patients in the treatment of a variety of illnesses.

Tinubu and his aides have maintained that the president is in good health, however.
