Across Nigeria, 28 governors have taken oaths of office to steer the affairs of their states.
While some won reelection bids to continue the work they began in 2019, others began their first terms in office, replacing outgoing governors.
Despite the handover, some of these outgoing governors are yet to relinquish the title they held for eight years.
FIJ checked Twitter profiles of outgoing governors and found some of them still retaining their former titles as of noon on May 29:

No fewer than 15 ex-governors still have their former titles on their social media handles despite relinquishing power.
Meanwhile, Muhammadu Buhari, the immediate past Nigerian president, and Yemi Osinbajo, his deputy, both changed their profiles to reflect their exits from office.
Okezie Ikpeazu, former Abia State Governor, who is one of the outgoing governors, also updated his social media handle.
