John Ameh, an Abuja-based businessman, has accused First Bank and Zenith Bank of refusing to refund his N10,000 after a dispense error on July 15.
Ameh told FIJ that he was returning from a journey when he stopped at a First Bank branch in Abuja to withdraw some cash.
“I was returning from a journey when I decided to stop at a First Bank ATM to withdraw cash so I could get additional fuel for my car. I used my Zenith Bank card at the ATM and ended up having a dispense error. I waited but did not get a reversal,” he said.
Ameh said he visited Zenith Bank on July 18 to file a complaint and was told it would take three to seven working days to resolve the dispute. The businessman said it had been a month since the promise was made but he was yet to receive value.

He said his bank’s customer service unit requested a transaction narration and he provided it.
“They have made several promises to me but have not fulfilled them. Today makes it one month since I experienced this error, and nothing has been done about it till today,” he said.
FIJ made several phone calls to First Bank and Zenith Bank but they were not answered. Emails sent to them had also not been responded to at press time.
