The political sandstorm may not be over just yet for Abdullahi Ganduje, national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as a different faction claiming to be authentic members of his ward in Tofa LGA of Kano State has now suspended him.

A week ago, Haladu Gwanjo-led faction of the party’s executives in the ward suspended Ganduje over what it described as misconduct.

Gwanjo claimed that nine executive members came to the conclusion that the former state governor was corrupt.

Reacting to this development, another faction led by Ahmad Ganduje declared support for the national chairman, insisting the ward officials were satisfied with his leadership style.

All seemed to be resolved until Jaafar Adamu, leader of another faction in the party, organised a press briefing on Sunday to declare that 11 of the 27 executive members of the ward were duly elected and were issuing a fresh suspension to Abdullahi Ganduje.

“We are the authentic executives of Ganduje ward and have passed a vote of no confidence and imposed new suspension on Dr Umar Ganduje,” Adamu said.

He said this fresh suspension was because Ganduje was promoting internal conflict and getting involved in anti-party activities.

“We have suspended Dr Ganduje’s membership for creating internal conflict among party members at ward level, anti-party activities during the 2023 general elections,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Kano State anti-graft agency is investigating Ganduje for bribery after he was caught on camera collecting money believed to be kickbacks from expatriates.
