Foundation For Investigative Journalism Nigeria

The Foundation for Investigative Journalism (FIJ) is an independent, not-for-profit organisation that combats injustice, holds power to account and speaks for the voiceless. Founded by ‘Fisayo Soyombo in June 2020, we seek to uncover the truth by bypassing officialdom and neutralizing propaganda, and making it accessible to the public in a way that eases and influences their everyday decision making.

MISSION

Our aim is to free our audience from the shackles of vested interests and propagandists who have mastered the art of information manipulation to the detriment of public interest. We seek to dig out, distill and dispense the real truth to the general public while limiting the spread of half-truths disguised as news.

Through our works, we free the powerless from their oppressors, assist the helpless to get justice and hold the government to account — all in a bid to strengthen democracy and advance the society.

VISION

Our vision is to use journalism as a tool for bettering the world, beginning from Nigeria. We want our journalism to help make Nigeria a more habitable place for all, especially for the lowly. We’re also determined to raise a new generation of Nigerian journalists that will value integrity, objectivity, impartiality and public interest over their pockets.
