Armed bandits have killed military officers and kidnapped some community members in a fresh attack on Unguwar Lalle, Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

In a series of tweets on Thursday, Yusuf Anka, a student of the National Open University of Nigeria who made the revelation, said the armed men burnt military vehicles, broke into shops and made away with a lot of money.

 “Armed Bandits have killed three personnel, injuring seven, setting ablaze two military vehicles at a check point, abducting a health worker and two others, breaking shops and charting away millions, in Unguwar Lalle, Sabon Birni Sokoto,” he stated.

Anka also shared pictures of some residents of the community fleeing their homes at about 2pm on Thursday, after the broad-daylight attack.

“Sabon Birni Communities in Sokoto are fleeing their homes after a bandit attack that killed two military personnel and others in broad day,” he said.

Attacks by bandits and other armed groups have led to the death of several Nigerians, especially in the Northern part of the country, in the last one year. FIJ reported on Monday that 237 Nigerians had been killed and 2,371 kidnapped in the first half of this year.

The Sokoto Police Command PRO did not take his calls when called for confirmation.
