22.07.2021 news REPORT: More IPOB Members (71) than Kidnappers (21) were Killed in 3 Months

A report by SBM Intelligence, a Nigerian geopolitical intelligence platform, has revealed that at least 3,133 people were killed in different violent attacks across Nigeria in the second quarter (April-June) of 2021, with the population of separatists killed outnumbering those of kidnappers.

According to the report, released on Thursday, the deaths recorded by the media within the three-month period include those of 153 soldiers, 133 police officers, 71 IPOB members, eight officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and one officer each of the Nigeria Customs and the Department of State Security Service (DSS).

Also killed were 21 kidnappers, 48 armed robbers, 113 cultists, nine smugglers, 334 Boko Haram terrorists and 416 bandits.

The deaths were recorded from Boko Haram and Fulani militia attacks, Farmers-Herders clashes, counter attacks by security agencies and related incidents in all the Nigerian states but Kano, which seemed to enjoy relative peace within period reviewed.

Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory and seat of Nigeria’s president, also witnessed 11 deaths within the same period.

FIJ had reported a similar chart revealing that 2, 2371 Nigerians were kidnapped in the first 180 days in 2021 while 237 died in the process.
