15.08.2021 news Bandits Kill Nine Villagers, Steal Cows in Sokoto

A group of bandits has killed nine people and stolen herds of cattle across Bejingo, Dantudu, and Tulutu villages in the Goronyo Local Government Area of Sokoto.

As reported by The Punch, six other people were taken hostage in the late-night attack on Saturday.

When contacted, Sanusi Abubakar, the Sokoto State Police spokesman, told FIJ that he was yet to receive briefing on the incident and promised to give details as soon as possible.

Bandits had invaded several communities in the Northern part of the country, killing residents and destroying their properties. They had also abducted dozens of vulnerable schoolchildren and demanded ransom to free them.

On June 24, gun-wielding bandits stole a herd of cattle belonging to officers attached to the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji, Kaduna State.
