Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB) has reversed an erroneous N94,920 debit from its customer Omotolani Giwa’s bank account.
Giwa told FIJ that the bank had credited her bank account with the exact amount that it took from it on on January 1.
“I just received the alert now. Thank you very much. God bless you. I really appreciate it,” Giwa said in a text on Tuesday.
FIJ had reported how GT Bank kept Giwa waiting for a reversal after a double debit before the bank attended to her on the same day.
“I made a transaction of N94,920 using my GTB Mastercard on December 30,” Giwa told FIJ on Monday.

“I was debited instantly, but to my greatest surprise, on the 1st of January 2023, I received a debit alert of another N94,920 from my bank for the same purpose.
“I didn’t have up to N94,920 in my account on January 1, so GT Bank placed my balance on minus. From then, every money that entered my account was deducted automatically till it completed that N94,920.”
Giwa said that she had visited a bank branch on two separate occasions before FIJ wrote a report.
