Public sector workers in the country have been directed to embark on a nationwide strike in protest against the current cash scarcity.

Joe Ajaero, President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), gave the directive on Wednesday in a press briefing at Labour House in Abuja.

According to Ajaero, the nationwide strike would commence next Wednesday at all the offices of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

“Workers are directed to stay at home too because people cannot eat, workers can no longer go to the office. We have been pushed to the wall, we have decided to take our destiny in our hands, we have mobilised our workers for this exercise,” Ajaero stated.

The NLC had issued a seven-day ultimatum to the federal government to tackle the difficulties experienced by Nigerians in accessing cash across the nation.
