Olagoke Balogun, a Lagos-based businessman and founder of So Fresh food company, has shared videos of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) officials holding a prayer session during work hours.

Balogun, via his Twitter handle on Wednesday, shared videos of the odd occurrence and expressed confusion over why the officials in the NIS Alausa, Lagos, office did so at some minutes past 9 am.

His tweet read, “I am thoroughly confused. I have been at the immigration office at Alausa since 7:30 am with so much chaos and confusion.

“Two officers came into the room now and commanded everyone to stand up, and they started a praise and worship session, followed by a long prayer session.

“We recited Hail Mary, and then they called an alfa (Islamic cleric) to pray.”

The Alausa office located at no. 5 Assbifi Rd, Agidingbi, Ikeja, Lagos, opens daily at 8 am and closes at 4 pm.

Balogun said he arrived the office 30 minutes before their official resumption time, but going by his tweet, the NIS office did not resume operations until at least an hour and forty minutes after they should have.

When FIJ called the NIS headquarters, a woman who identified herself simply as Debby, asked that we email the video of the incident to them for further action.

FIJ did so earlier, but as of press time, there was no response to our email.
