The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) has opposed the seven weeks requested by the Labour Party (LP) to argue its case.

This happened in Abuja during the pre-trial proceedings which ended on Tuesday.

Justice Haruna Tsammani, the tribunal chairman, said three weeks had been set aside for the party to present all its witnesses and issues contained in its petition.

All is now set for the hearing as the court has fixed Tuesday, May 30, for the petitioners to begin their case.

The party is dissatisfied with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)’s announcement of Bola Tinubu as the winner of the February 25 presidential race, against its candidate, Peter Obi.

Atiku Abubakar, also a contender, and his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), are also challenging the outcome of the election before the tribunal.

Earlier, FIJ reported that the LP asked the court to give them seven weeks to present their case.
