29.09.2021 news Bandits Return to Sokoto LGA 4 Days After Attacking Military Base, Kill 20 Residents

Bandits have killed at least 20 people in Gatawa, a village in the Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State, on Tuesday night.

According to a report by Premium Times, several people were also abducted in the agrarian village during the attack.

“They came on motorcycles as usual and started shooting sporadically. They went from house to house checking for food and other things, but they also killed 20 people during the attack,” Bashir Gobir, a resident of Gatawa, was quoted to have said.

“The terrorists raided Gatawa yesterday night. They stole almost everything of value in the village, killed many and abducted several others. My sister, Rahila Galadima, was one of the women taken away by the bandits.” 

On Friday, a group of bandits had attacked a military base in Dama village, the same local government area, and killed 15 soldiers.

Sanusi Abubakar, Sokoto police spokesperson, didn’t respond to a text message sent to his phone for comments.
