Suspected Fulani militants are building up to attack villages in the Kagoro area of Kaduna State, FIJ can report.

This is following multiple attacks in Southern Kaduna, leading to the deaths of hundreds of innocent citizens.

In a letter addressed to the Army Commandant of Operation Save Haven and the Police Area Commander in Kafanchan, Ufuwei Bonet, the chief of Kagoro, drew the attention of security operatives to the looming violence.

“This is to inform you that we heard a rumour that Fulanis are planning to attack the following villages in Kagoro: Madamai, Fadan Daji, Kukum Daji,” the letter read in part. “The rumour has it that the attack may occur any day from Friday 1st October 2021.”

A resident of Madamai, one of the villages in Kagoro, told FIJ on condition of anonymity that the suspected “Fulani militants were seen wandering around the villages with arms”.

“We also have leaked information from them that they are planning to attack us,” he said.

On Sunday, suspected Fulani herdsmen invaded Madamai and Abun communities in the Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State, killing 38 residents. Families and friends gathered at the GSS Mallagum on Thursday for the mass burial of victims.

On September 13, armed men suspected to be Fulani herdsmen ambushed and killed Silas Ali, a pastor of the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA), in Kibori village, Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna state.

Kaduna is one of the northwest states battling banditry, farmer-herder crisis and ethnic cleansing.
