Damilola, a journalist based in Lagos, paid for a Lagos-Anambra round trip with Air Peace, a Nigerian airline, for N153,400 on October 7 but could not fly with the airline because of complications after payment, which have remained unresolved.

The journalist told FIJ that before he paid for the flight, Air Peace sent him a Fidelity Bank account and asked him to pay the flight fare into the account, which he did via an ATM.

He said Access Bank, his bank, debited him immediately after the ATM screen read that the transfer was successful and he apprised the airline company of his transaction status.

“After I met Air Peace the same day I paid, they claimed they had not received a confirmation of my payment. I waited for a while before I booked another flight, yet I have not got a confirmation up till now,” Damilola told FIJ.

“Air Peace told me they had issues with Fidelity Bank that same day, which was why I was patient, but later on, they asked me to go to my bank. And when I did, they informed me that the transaction was successful.

“I have waited for many more days now, but I still do not have my money. Air Peace keeps giving me the runaround by assuring me every day that they will get back to me.”

FIJ contacted Air Peace on October 24 for comments on the matter via email, but the airline had not responded at press time.
