Officers of the Ogun State Police Command have kidnapped Felix Goodnews, a resident of Ikirun Lukosi in Abeokuta, and collected N50,000 to free him.

Speaking with FIJ, Goodnews said the officers knocked on his room’s door around 2am on Friday, then proceeded to knock on the window when he refused to open the door.

“When I woke up to check from the kitchen, they pointed a gun at me that I should open the door,” he said. “I complied and opened. Then they began searching my room.”

After searching for a few minutes, they collected his phone and ordered him to dress up because he needed to follow them to their station.

“They took me and my neighbour, whom they also arrested, to a police station at Elewe-Eran and put us in the backyard. After a few minutes, they came back and demanded that I pay N200,000. I told them I couldn’t afford that kind of money. They gave me my phone that I should start calling people to raise the money.

“After a while, I told them I found someone who wanted to lend me N50,000 and that’s the only amount I could afford. They accepted, and gave me account details to send the money to.”
