Reuben Abaru, one of the eight people on the wanted list of the Nigerian Army for the massacre of 17 soldiers, once said the Nigerian Army was not neutral in its mission to Okuama community, Delta State, on March 14.

In a two-minute, 20-second video previously published on his Tiktok page, Abaru said the slain soldiers were fighting in favour of High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, also known as Tompolo, as he was using them to aid bunkering.

He also said that the army was used as machinery to kill some residents of Okuama, apart from escorting the people of Okoloba to sell oil.

“This is the last video I will be making concerning the Okuama and Okoloba fight. Both communities had land issues, which caused some crises,” he said.

“The Ijaw people, whom the FG empowered to fight against oil bunkering, to burn diesel and to cook, they used the same army to escort their own people to go and sell.

“They betrayed their own blood. That man used the army to carry people from Okuama community. The three people they carried, they slaughtered them. Now, they are coming back to carry community leaders, and you know very well that once the community leaders are captured, the youths are powerless.

“The action took place, you are making comments that the army came for peacekeeping. Point of correction, no army came for peacekeeping. They are fighting in favour of Tompolo because he has ordered them to do so.

“And you are asking me to show my face. All these comments you are making are ordinary writings. If I can’t say the truth on my land, I don’t have anywhere else to go where I will speak the truth and be believed.

“This is the last video I will be making. My father is a retired captain in Nigeria. He died last year. I have also lost six of my friends and relatives in Nigeria. Remember, as an army, that this Nigeria is not worth dying for as a country. I am letting you know.

“So, if you like, carry this matter from here to the next level. If FG likes, they should declare me wanted; I am proud of it. You are asking me to show my face; if I reveal it, what will you do to me? What will you do?”

On Thursday morning, the Nigerian Army released the names and pictures of eight people wanted in connection with the murder of the soldiers.
