Olumide Ojo, a poultry farmer in Ibadan, Oyo State, has accused Air Peace, a Nigerian airline, of withholding his money four months after cancelling his flight.

Ojo told FIJ that he had booked an Air Peace flight from Lagos to Port Harcourt and back to Lagos. But on September 10, 2021, he asked an Air Peace customer care representative whether he could fly from Port Harcourt to Abuja instead of Lagos.

“It was doable, according to the call representative. They later rescheduled my flight to 6:40 pm on October 3. I adored the concept,” he stated.

On September 20, Ojo received a call from Air Peace informing him that his flight would take off at 11:40 am rather than 6:40 pm. He opposed the proposal in an email, stating that the time was inconvenient.

“I told them I could not meet up with the change in time because the earliest time I could leave Port Harcourt was 5 pm on October 3,” Ojo explained.

According to him, the airline acknowledged his letter and offered him a form to request a refund. They indicated he would get a refund within 10–14 business days, and that he might get N29,000 rather than the N30,000 he paid for the flight.

Ojo wrote to Air Peace after 14 days, asking why he had not got a refund, but he got no response.

“I contacted them in November and December, but they made no substantive statement. I wrote to them in November and December, but have got no answer till today. They have been silent for about four months,” he said.

When FIJ contacted Air Peace, a call representative said our reporter should get the booking reference and forward it to their call centre.
