Motunrayo Shittu, a resident of Ekiti State, has called on Nigerians to assist her in raising funds to pay a ransom for her husband’s freedom.
Shittu said her husband was out and she expected him back on Sunday, knowing he was close to their house, but he never returned.
She said she called him around 5 pm on Sunday, but his line was off. Worried, she kept calling him, but he was unreachable.
“By 8 pm on Monday, these Fulani people called, saying they wanted a ransom of N30 million. Where do they expect me to get that type of money from? I have been trying my best. As of now, we have N1.750 million,” she said in a video.
Shittu said when the Fulani herdsmen called her on Tuesday, she said she had N1.750 million, but they hurled insults at her.
In a phone conversation circulating online, one kidnapper tells Shittu her husband will be killed if she fails to pay the ransom by noon on Wednesday.
