Kelvin Nwosu, a member of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Aba, Abia State, has accused Francis Dike, a former youth pastor of the church, of swindling him out of N500,000 with the promise of a Canadian visa.

In March 2020, Nwosu transferred the sum to Dike, a serving pastor of his church at the time, with the promise to pay a further N400,000 if the process was successful.

However, two years after, the visa never showed up, and neither did Dike. The pastor fled the church.

“He called me one day and said he could do Canadian visa if I could help to bring people to him,” Nwosu told FIJ. “My sister picked interest. He charged me N900,000, and said I should pay N500,000 upfront. I sent it to him and that was how he ran away.”

Nwosu said he approached the church leadership to complain, but he was ignored. The church only took him seriously when other congregants told similar stories.

In January, he learned that Dike had gone to Lagos where Vivian Dike, his sister, lived.

When FIJ contacted Vivian, she said she had not heard from her brother since December 2021, and he left Lagos without meeting her.

Efforts to reach Francis proved abortive as his contact numbers were unreachable. As of press time, he had not responded to a text message sent to him.
