Donald Trump, former president of the United States of America (USA), has launched Truth Social, a social media platform.

The platform was launched on Apple’s app store on Monday, February 21, the same day the country marks Presidents’ Day, an annual holiday held to celebrate the birth of George Washington, a former US president.

On February 15, Trump Jr., the immediate past president’s son, shared a screenshot of his father’s first post on Truth Social. The post read, “Get ready! Your favorite President will see you soon!”

Days after, he was banned from using Facebook, Twitter and Youtube. He reacted by telling his followers that he would return with a social media platform that allows them speak the “truth”.

A demo version of the app was launched in late 2021, but hackers quickly took over and created parody accounts to expose lapses in the platform’s code.
