Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the President of Ukraine, has said he would give weapons to anyone who would stand up for Ukraine.

In a tweet on Thursday, Zelenskyy said, “We will give weapons to anyone who wants to defend the country. Be ready to support Ukraine in the squares of our cities.”

Zelenskyy also tweeted that he would lift sanctions on all citizens of Ukraine who are ready to defend Ukraine as part its territorial defence with weapons in hands.

He said Ukraine has severed diplomatic relations with Russia.

“For all those who have not yet lost their conscience in Russia, it is time to go out and protest against the war with Ukraine,” Zelenskyy said.

He also said he would continue negotiating with world leaders.

He said he spoke to Joe Biden, Andrzej Duda and Boris Johnson, among others.

“I call for an immediate end to Putin, the war against Ukraine and the world! We are building an anti-Putin coalition. Immediate sanctions, defence and financial support for Ukraine! Closing the airspace! The world must force Russia into peace,” he tweeted.

“Russia treacherously attacked our state in the morning, as Nazi Germany did in #2WW years. As of today, our countries are on different sides of world history. Russia has embarked on a path of evil. But Ukraine is defending itself and won’t give up its freedom no matter what Moscow thinks.”
