Seven months after she was told by a hospital that the baby she delivered had died, Kelechi Chinyere got her baby back alive.

Narrating her ordeal during the Sunday service of Faith Tabernacle a.k.a Winners Chapel, which was live streamed on YouTube and monitored by FIJ, Kelechi said when she gave birth, she was unconscious.

Kelechi said when she regained consciousness, the lady who followed her to the hospital told her that her baby had died. Heartbroken, she called her mother-in-law to relay the news to her. She was assured by her mother-in-law that God would give her another child.

“When I gave birth, I was unconscious,” she said.

“My husband was not around. The woman who stood in for him was the one who took me to the hospital (an auxiliary house like that). After giving birth I found myself unconscious. After gaining a hold of myself, she came to me and told me that my baby had died. I told her she was the only one I had and she should help me.

“She said she buried the baby. Unknown to us, the child was still alive. After the whole issue, I told them I couldn’t wait.; I had to get another child. I’m over seven months pregnant right now.”

Kelechi continued: “All of a sudden, one day they called my husband that our attention was needed at the police station at Badagry. I said for what? We have not committed any crime. What is the problem?

“So we went there. The son of the woman that was staying with me during my childbirth confessed that his mother was with my child. I never believed it. She ran away, took the child to Ifetedo in Osun State. They arrested her in Osun; the DPO over there called the DO at Badagry; that was how they arrested the woman and brought her back to Badagry, and handed over my child to me on March 7.”

The General Overseer of Winners Chapel, Bishop David Oyedepo, described the woman’s testimony as prooof of the wickedness in the world.

“That’s how wicked the world we live in, is,” Oyedepo said. “The woman looking after her sold the baby for N14,000 naira.”

FIJ contacted the police to independently verify Kelechi’s story, but calls and Whatsapp messages to their lines were not returned.
