Anuoluwapo Williams, a Nigerian student in Ukraine, has narrated how Ukrainian officials prevented her from boarding a train at the Lviv Train Port.

She said the officials stopped her from entering the train because of her skin colour.

“What rubbish! Just because of my skin colour, I could not enter the train,” Williams told FIJ. “Because of my skin type, I could not enter the train. Because I am a black girl, I could not enter the train with the whites.”

She stated that there were over 4,000 Africans at the train station.

“This place is shit. I regret the day I came here,” Williams said. “They packed their people, and no single black person was there.”

The Federal Government of Nigeria said it was making “necessary arrangements” for Nigerians to leave Ukraine earlier on Saturday.

In a statement, the federal government said Nigerians who cross over to Poland would meet the staff of the Nigerian Embassy waiting for them.

Meanwhile, Williams’ experience could mean that Nigerians who are yet to get to Poland will face difficulties leaving Ukraine.
