Dana Air has failed to reverse its extortion of Uzoamaka Stella Ike, the physically challenged lady who was made to pay N9,000 as wheelchair charges” for a return trip.

In March, FIJ had reported on how Stella was discriminated against by Dana  Air during her flight to Abuja and back to Enugu.

Following this report, Babatunde Irukera, Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), described the actions of the airline as “illegal discriminatory, unjustified and inconsistent with global standards”.

Dana Air replied: “We are investigating this feedback and we will take a decision soon”.

The airline also apologised for any inconvenience caused.

But four weeks after, Stella still doesn’t know if her money will be returned.

She said after the initial report by FIJ, Dana Air requested for her contact details but her lawyer advised that all communication should take place via email. “Since I sent them my email, I’ve not heard from them,” she told FIJ.

Corroborating Stella’s claim, Olawunmi Okupe, Programmes Director,  Inclusive Friends Association (IFA), the organisation that funded her flight, decried the attitude of Dana Air, wondering why it was taking them so long to rectify the issue.

“We sent some documents to their office and we’re yet to receive any response from them,” she said.

She added that Dana Air acknowledged receipt of thess documents but no feedback was received from the airline.

FIJ reached out to Dana Air via WhatsApp, their preferred mode of communication, for updates but there was no response as of press time.
