Officers of the Nigerian Air Force on Thursday harassed a man and damaged the roof of his vehicle for sharing a road with them.

Kingsley Ekechi, the driver of a Ford Edge 2013, told FIJ he was trying to join the service lane at the Obanikoro bus stop from the main road when he was attacked by the officers.

“I had joined the service lane when one of their buses passed me. As I looked into my mirror, I realised others were coming behind, so I tried to move out of the way because I knew how they can be. But all my effort to move out of the road was unsuccessful,” he told FIJ.

Kingsley said after he was able to evade them, he parked so that they could pass, but some of them came down and started hitting his vehicle’s windscreen and sunroof.

“When I tried to get a picture of the men, one of them hit me, causing my phone to fall. So I couldn’t get their picture,” he said.

Kingsley stated that he was sure they were airforce officers from their dressing, the emblem on their vehicle and plate number. He suspects they were from the Sam Ethnan Air Force Base in Lagos, where a secondary school is located, because their bus had ‘educational’ written on it.

For the repair of damages done to his vehicle, Kingsley has been billed N420,000.
