Toyosi Olufade, a Twitter user, has accused the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the Nigerian police of incompetence, after surviving a fatal accident that claimed the life of his fiancée.
In a series of tweets on Friday, Olufade stated that the accident happened along the Ibadan Toll Gate end of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, in Ibadan, Oyo State, on March 22.
While driving, Olufade had swerved into a trailer in an attempt to avoid knocking down an unidentified person, who had unexpectedly ran unto the express road.

His fiancée, who was in the car with him, died while they were being taken to the hospital by FRSC officials.
“I am an accident survivor and I have so much to say,” he wrote. “I lost my fiancée who was beside me in this incident one month ago at Toll Gate Ibadan. I honestly lost a treasure,” Olufade said.
He stated that when FRSC officials arrived at the scene of the accident, they did not have any first aid kits they could use in administering treatments on the victims before transporting them to a distant hospital.
He also said some other persons stole from their damaged car as they were being rescued from the scene.

“To the FRSC officials who arrived at the incident scene with no first-aid till she gave up beside me, while we were transited to the far located hospital [sic], and to people who took advantage of the situation to rob the accident car and steal while our lives were been fought for, thank you so much,” he wrote.
He also accused the Nigerian Police of negligence and extortion. He stated that after the accident, officers of the Nigerian Police extorted him before he was allowed to retrieve the damaged car.
“To the Nigerian Police who didn’t do the needful but was waiting for me to recover and still come to pay a huge sum of money before I could retrieve the already damaged and written-off car, thank you also.”
“Nigeria failed me, Nigeria failed Joke. It is still not the end because God has saved me for a reason I’m figuring out. No broken bones. No internal bleeding. Just some injuries, pains and a big loss,” he wrote.
