Deborah Olatunji, a UI/UX developer, has narrated how Web3Games, a blockchain game development company, fired her for demanding payment for her services in April.

Olatunji told FIJ that she started working for the company as a community pre-moderator (pre-mod) on March 2, and was quickly promoted to moderator (mod) two weeks after.

Prior to her promotion, the designer was promised the company’s IDO Whitelist (an Initial Dex Offering for projects to crowdfund in cryptocurrency) and $W3G tokens after a token generation event.

Olatunji later rejected the offer and asked to be paid a monthly salary in dollars, a request the company said it would “take into consideration”.

However, after a month on the job, Olatunji needed money so she could give her daughter a birthday present. She then reached out to ‘Janet’, a member of the Web3Games management.

“Shockingly, the company gave me $100 for my daughter and sacked me afterwards,” Olatunji said.

“Before I got relieved, I first reached out to Sophie, a member of the management team, but she said she was sorry and that she would not be able to help with the money I requested. I then reached out to Janet, a member of the management staff, to ask her for help.

“Janet would send me a message saying I should send my wallet, that she’s sending $100 as my remuneration. She also informed me that I have been relieved of my post.

“I sent her the wallet to at least get that sorted out. I then asked her if the $100 was for me working for four weeks. She however said it was for my daughter’s birthday.”

Olatunji said she later quizzed the management for the reason they had for relieving her.

“They accused me of texting members of the company and sharing personal information against their company rules, an offence I was never guilty of,” she said.

“Knowing that I did not DM any community member other than the team members which isn’t going against any of our moderators ethics, I demanded that I wanted my money.”

After her sacking, Olatunji was removed from the company’s Discord, a platform where the company’s members of staff interact. The removal meant she no longer had direct access to the company and its management.

Her removal has also made it difficult to track the real identities of the company’s management staff, as she only met them on Twitter, and only conversed with them on Discord.

Olatunji told FIJ that she does not know the nationality or real names of any member of the company’s management staff, and she never got any salary, tokens or IDO whitelist like they promised.

FIJ’s efforts to reach @Janet_w3g, @W3G_Sophie and @bichenkk, the company’s management staff, via Twitter proved abortive at press time.

FIJ also sent a message to the company’s Twitter handle, but there was no response.

Also, there were no available contact options on the Web3Games website.
