Imoleayo Michael, the young programmer who spent 41 days in custody for participating in #EndSars protests in Abuja, has appealed to Nigerians for help over his lingering legal tussle with the Department of State Service (DSS).
FIJ reported on Monday that Michael was tracked via Telegram and whisked away in the middle of the night by gun-wielding DSS officers few weeks after the October 2020 protest against police brutality.
Following his revelation, which travelled far on Twitter, Michael again raised an alarm on Wednesday over fresh attempts by DSS officials to secure his conviction by all means.
In a similar Twitter post on Tuesday, he had called on Nigerians to raise their voices in solidarity as he could no longer guarantee his safety.
“I was in DSS custody for 41days. I’ve seen what they’re capable of doing. Now that I’ve come out open with this, I know my safety is no longer guaranteed,” Michael said.

On Wednesday, he accused the DSS of withholding his work tools in an attempt to make him financially incapable of flogging his legal battle with them.
“The DSS is really frustrating me so I don’t have the financial capacity to pursue my case,” Michael said. “All I have left is my voice and yours! Please, lend me your voice in solidarity for my freedom.”
