The remains of the deceased Iniubong Umoren have been deposited at the University Of Uyo Teaching Hospital for examination after retrieval from a shallow grave, FIJ can confirm.

Odiko MacDon, the Akwa Ibom Police spokesman, said this on Sunday while giving an update on their investigation regarding the demise of the young lady.

The police spokesman said: “Give us a chance to do what we need to do. Indeed, he (the suspect) assaulted her both physically and sexually. After he had confessed to us, he was able to take us to a shallow grave where he buried her and we were able to exhume her.

“As I speak, the body has been deposited at the UUTH. The essence of doing that is for an autopsy to be conducted.”

Iniubong was last seen on April 29 after she told her friend, Umoh Uduak, she was going for a job interview on the outskirts of the state.

With many Nigerians pushing the campaign for the return of the missing Philosophy graduate of University of Uyo under #FindHinyUmoren, two suspects were later arrested by the police in connection to the abduction.

She was later confirmed dead early on Sunday morning.
