A Federal Government project worth N125 million that was allocated in the 2020 budget to Niger East Senatorial District was declared overpriced by TrackaNG on Friday.

The project, meant for “capacity building in ICT for youths, girl-child education and provision of laptops”, does not, in practice, have just one laptop.

Tracka, an organisation that tracks the implementation of government projects in various communities across the country, reported that the laptops were yet to be supplied and the ICT facility was under lock and key. The ICT building, which was just one block, was not commensurate to the amount allocated for it.

The project was facilitated by Senator Mohammed Sani Musa, who represents Niger East Senatorial District and also doubles as the Chairman, Committee on Senate Services.

Tracka said, “No equipment has been supplied despite the released 100 per cent funds in 2020 zonal intervention projects. Public funds must work for the people.”

FIJ reached out to Senator Musa but he declined calls and did not respond to the message sent to him as of the time of filling this report.
