13.06.2022 Featured Gunmen Kill Residents, Burn Houses in Benue Community

Gunmen have reportedly killed several people in Igama community, Okpokwu Local Government Area of Benue State.

In the attack, which happened on Sunday, several buildings were also burnt down. According to TheCable, Catherine Anene, Benue State police spokesperson, confirmed the attack but could not ascertain the number of casualties.

She also said there were no figures on the number of buildings or properties destroyed by the attackers.

“I don’t have that detail. They only confirmed to me that there was an attack and that they were moving in. I’m still expecting reports from them,” she was quoted to have said.

This is just one of the recent gunmen attacks in the country in recent times. FIJ had reported that over 140 persons were killed by gunmen and bandits between March 5 and 10 in Nigeria.

Last week, over 32 persons were reportedly killed in an attack involving four communities in Kajuru, Kaduna State. The attackers had invaded the communities on motorbikes, carrying AK-47.
