Eunice Bolaji, an expectant mother based in Oyo State, has narrated how an online vendor who sells baby products duped her out of N37,000.

Bolaji told FIJ that the vendor blocked her on social media after she paid for a clothes dryer, a swing, a bicycle and bowls for her baby.

“I saw the page ‘UK Used Bales/Babies Best Collections’ on Facebook and decided to trust her since I also sold wrist watches online at some point,” she said.

“I sent the money to her June 17 and she told me I’d get my goods by June 19. I tried calling her to say someone would be picking up the goods for me rather than have her send it through public transport.

“Each time I called, she ended my call. I sent her a message via WhatsApp, only to realise I’d been blocked and could no longer message her.

“My husband and someone else she had also duped visited her house, but she had moved out. They also traced her shop from the address she gave me, ’22A, Beside Custom Warehouse, Idi-iroko, Ogun State,’ but nothing tangible was found there.”

Bolaji said that the vendor whose name is unknown is popular in the area her shop was for collecting money from people and not delivering their goods.

Bolaji also shared a post on the matter on Twitter.

When FIJ contacted the vendor, she hung up immediately our reporter raised the issue. She also barred our lines and did not respond to text messages sent to her.

When FIJ checked, we found that the vendor had changed her Facebook handle’s name from ‘UK Used Bales/Babies Best Collections’ to ‘Bales/Babies Collections’.
