EDITOR

A journalist to oversee our editorial operations and give direction to our expanding newsroom of text and multimedia journalists. Previous experience in a similar role is an advantage.Remuneration: Negotiable

NEWS AND FEATURE EDITOR

A journalist whose job will be to supervise our coverage of social-justice developments. Must have done journalism before (but LENGTH of experience is immaterial). Must have a mastery of the English Language and must be able to spot big headlines buried somewhere in the body of a reporter’s piece.

Remuneration: N250,000 monthly (net)

VIDEO JOURNALISTS

Journalists who have the skills to handle all aspects of production on their own, acting as reporter, cameraman and editor.

Remuneration: N200,000 monthly (net)

PROGRAMME OFFICER

Candidates must possess the know-how or experience with driving projects in the not-for-profit sector.

Remuneration: N200,000 monthly (net)

M&E OFFICER

Must possess the know-how or experience of ensuring compliance with project goals.

Remuneration: N200,000 monthly (net)

GRADUATE INTERNS

Aspiring journalists but good writers who have completed or are on the verge of completing tertiary education. Priority will be given to female applicants — as we’re trying to achieve gender balance in our newsroom — and candidates with multimedia skills.

Stipend: N50,000/month

Candidates for ALL the positions must be people who genuinely still believe in Nigeria despite all the odds and are convinced journalism has a critical role to play in the emergence of the country of our dreams. They all must have passion to fight injustice and must be people of courage and conviction.

All roles are in Lagos.

APPLICATION PROCESS

Applicants for the roles of Editor, News and Feature and Intern should send their CVs to [email protected]. A cover letter is unnecessary but the position applied for should be stated. CVs must contain links to three of their stories published in the last two years, and an essay of no more than 500 words on the topic: ‘Watchdog — Not Watched Dog’.

Applicants for the video journalist positions should send a cover letter and a CV that includes links to their three biggest documentaries.

Applicants for Programmes Officer and M&E Officer need not send links to stories/articles if they do not have. But they should send a cover letter and a CV, and write the 500-word essay.

ALL emails should name the position being applied for, in the ‘Subject’ line.
